Safeguarding and Protecting Young People

All young people have the right to be safe and enjoy their hockey. We all have a duty to safeguard and protect young people from harm.  Jersey Hockey adheres to the England Hockey safeguarding policies and procedures which can be found HERE.

Jersey Hockey is committed to ensuring that all coaches, managers, volunteers, players and spectators adhere to a strict code of conduct both on and off the pitch. Jersey Hockey is committed to ensuring that all young people who play hockey have a safe and positive experience. You should feel safe and enjoy playing hockey. If you are concerned about poor practice or abuse against young people, please contact one of our Club Welfare Officers who are listed below ("CWO's"). Other useful contacts are MASH (Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub) (01534 519000 or 01534 612612), Childline (0800 1111) and the NSPCC (0800 800 500).

Jersey Hockey is also guided by the Jersey Safeguarding Partnership Board. The Safeguarding Partnership Board’s role is to co-ordinate work locally in Jersey which will safeguard children and adults and to monitor and challenge the effectiveness of Jersey’s safeguarding arrangements. There are some face to face and some online so please ensure you book the format of your preference.  If Jersey Hockey have larger numbers wishing to update their safeguarding training it may be possible for us to organise to run a course specifically Jersey Hockey
