Rathbones Jersey missed out on progressing to the next round of the England Hockey Trophy following an agonising defeat at the hands of Kingsbridge & Salcombe HC on Saturday. Goals from Aleisha Duffy and Kerry Rogers helped Jersey fight back from a goal behind twice to draw 2-2 after normal time, before losing on sudden death in the shootout.
It has been Jersey's best ever run in the competition, and captain Trudy Dillion-Nugent told ITV that she is pleased how the team has grown during the run:
"It's the furthest we've been in the tournament so far. It's a great experience for our team to play competitive hockey. We've invested a lot into this. The team has grown - some juniors and more experienced players supporting them. You can see the difference and hopefully that'll stand us in good stead at the inter-insulars."
