The Investec Summer Mixed Hockey League began on 19th May and the second round of matches were played this week. The league runs for ten weeks with the final matches being played on 28th July. Played in competitive spirit the Summer League is designed for fun and to encourage players who may not have played before, or for a while, to have a go and to perhaps go on and join in the winter leagues in September.
Five teams are competing for the trophy. In the first week Inbluteeners took on The Woolies with the youngsters running out 10-3 winners with Olly Scholfield scoring 4, Eve Taylor-Cox, Dave Starr and Rob Cuming all scoring 2. The Woolies goals were scored by Sarah Heelis, Julien Uzzell and Julian Griffiths. Claire De La Haye's team then lost to RBSI 2-3 with Claire's goals being scored by Tom Morgan and the RBSI goals by Sally MacDowall (2) and Tom Boswell (1).
In the second week The Woolies came back from their disappointing first game to beat Claire's team 2-1 with goals from Robin Le Quesne. Stuart Gower scored for Claire. In the other match Bengals and the Inbluteeners drew 2-2 with goals from Simon Watling and Dave Start for Bengals and Dan Scriven and Alex Bolton for the Inbluteeners.
